Suspected Abu Sayyaf member killed in Davao
A man suspected to be a member of the Abu Sayyaf group died after he allegedly engaged authorities in a shootout in Davao City, a report on Unang Balita on Wednesday said.
The victim was identified as Alyas Bin Ladin.
Investigation revealed police ran after Bin Ladin and another man driving the motorcycle they were riding after they did not stop at a checkpoint.
Bin Ladin reportedly shot at responding policemen, forcing the cops to fire back.
The driver of the motorcycle was able to flee, but Bin Ladin was killed.
Recovered from Bin Ladin was a firearm and materials for bomb making, including a 60-mm mortar.
The materials were the same as the ones used in the Roxas Night Market bombing in Davao City in 2016. —KG, GMA News
