Floods hit Bontoc in Mountain Province; clogged canal blamed

Heavy rains left some roads in Bontoc, Mountain Province flooded for hours, with local officials blaming a clogged drainage system.

Deep floods from Tuesday's downpour forced some establishments to close early, "Unang Balita" reported Wednesday morning.

Citing initial information, the report said that floodwaters took a long time to subside as the drainage system was clogged.

Public Works officials told GMA News that they had long planned to declog the drainage system but residents along the drainage canal had opposed the project, claiming it would affect their property. —LBG, GMA News
