11 suspected Maute group members nabbed in Lanao del Sur

The military on Monday arrested 11 suspected members of the Maute terror group in raids in Marogong, Lanao del Sur.

Maj. Gen. Arnel dela Vega, commander of the Philippine Army's 6th Infantry Division, said the 11 suspected Maute members were arrested during simultaneous raids at three houses in Marogong at around 5:20 a.m.

Dela Vega said the raids were conducted after surveillance operations confirmed the presence of the terror group members in the town.

He said troops seized eight high-powered firearms during the raids, including a 60-mm mortar grenade launcher, an M60 machine gun, an M14 rifle, an M16 rifle, an M1 Garand, a carbine and several ammunition.

The 11 suspects have been brought to the Army unit's headquarters in Malabang town. —Ferdinandh Cabrera/ALG, GMA News
