Town councilor, wife killed in Rizal shooting incident

A town councilor and his wife were gunned down Monday morning by unidentified armed men on-board a motorcycle in Teresa, Rizal.

The victims were identified as Councilor John San Jose and Ma. Teresa Torres San Jose.

Rizal Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council chief Dong Malonzo said the victims were declared dead on arrival at St. Therese Hospital.

The incident happened around 6:30 a.m. at Sitio Uno bridge, Brgy. May Iba, Teresa, Rizal.

The victims were reportedly on their way to attend the graduation of their child. The child was unharmed.

Supt. Resty Damaso, Rizal Provincial Police Office deputy chief for operations, said they received a text message from a concerned citizen regarding a shooting incident.

He said that according to the texter, three men on-board a motorcycle shot the victims. — Amita Legaspi/RSJ, GMA News
