Marawi inmate arrested in Iligan City


An escapee from the Marawi City Jail who is believed to be a member of the Maute Group was arrested at a checkpoint in Iligan City on Friday.

The arrest was made after local authorities implemented stricter security measures at checkpoints following the siege of Marawi City by the terrorist group.

Mohammad Laguindab Hadji, who is facing carnapping charges, was arrested about 11:30 p.m. Friday and is presently detained at the Iligan City Reformatory Center.

Another man was detained by the police, who requested that the identity be withheld at this time pending an investigation to verify if he is connected to the terror group.

Meanwhile, a curfew is in place in Iligan City that streets are clear by 6 p.m. while police patrol the area. — BAP, GMA News
