Ex-Binangonan police chief shot in Antipolo

A former chief of police in Binangonan, Rizal was shot at a gasoline station in Antipolo on Friday morning.

In a flash report, radio dzBB Manny Vargas cited Antipolo chief of police Supt. Raynold Rosero as saying that Supt. Noel Verzosa was at a gasoline station when an unknown suspect fired at him three times at around 7:15 a.m. to 7:30 a.m.

Verzosa managed to dodge most of the bullets but he was shot on his left arm. He immediately fled the scene and sought help at a nearby cathedral where he was assisted by security guards and residents.

The former Binangonan chief of police was immediately brought to a hospital.

Investigation is still ongoing, according to Rosero.

He said initial investigation showed there may be two suspects involved, possibly riding a motorcycle.

Authorities are looking into whether the incident was captured on a CCTV camera.

Verzosa was headed to Laguna where he is currently assigned at the personnel division of PNP Region IV, when the incident happened. —Marlly Rome Bondoc/KG, GMA News
