Mayor of San Felipe, Zambales survives ambush


Carolyn Fariñas, mayor of San Felipe, Zambales, narrowly escaped death  after unidentified men opened fire on her vehicle.

According to a report on Unang Balita on Tuesday, Fariñas' vehicle was traveling down the length of the National Highway when it was met by armed men riding in tandem on a motorcycle.

Fariñas and her companions were unhurt.

The suspects immediately fled the scene.

However, the suspects abandoned their motorcycle in another barangay then boarded a tricycle.

According to the tricycle driver, the men introduced themselves as members of the New People's Army. —KG/KVD, GMA News
