Loaded dump truck falls into river as bridge collapses in Bulacan

Two vehicles, including a dump truck, fell into a river after a bridge joining Barangay Lambakin and Barangay Bardias collapsed in San Miguel, Bulacan, Friday.

A resident from Barangay Bardias reported the incident to the Bulacan Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO).

According to witnesses, the loaded V10 dump truck was already halfway through the bridge when the structure gave way. The other vehicle was a Nissan pick-up.

Residents of the area said heavy trucks often pass through the bridge despite a warning that it could only accommodate up to 25 tons.

No one was seriously injured in the incident, although the drivers could not be found.

The MDRRMO warned motorists to always follow the road rules and warnings to avoid mishaps. — Jamil Santos/MDM, GMA News
