1 killed, 3 wounded in Biñan ambush

A man got killed while three others were injured, including a city council secretary, after their vehicle was ambushed in Biñan, Laguna.

A Balitanghali report identified the fatality as a certain Salvador Reyes, and the three injured victims as legislative council secretary Edward Alonte Reyes, Celestino Vergara and driver Antonio Balandres while was shot dead by the suspects.

The report said the victims were on board a Toyota Land Cruiser when five unidentified men fired shots at them along Jubination Road at Barangay Zapote.

The suspects were on board motorcycles and was back up by a gray Toyota Innova.

Alonte Reyes, Vergara, and Balandres managed to flee from their assaialnts and seek help from security guards from a nearby subdivision.

Police are still determining the possible motive for the incident, but are already trying to secure a copy of the CCTV footage from the subdivision.

"Sa ngayon po ay wala tayong ma-establish pa na motive. Sa ngayon po ay meron tayong CCTV sa subdivision. Nire-request na po ng ating management na makakuha tayo ng kopya," said Chief Inspector Mark Rebanal.

Alonte Reyes is the cousin of Biñan Representative Len Alonte and Vice Mayor Jed Alonte, while City Councilor Dada Reyes is his daughter. — Anna Felicia Bajo/MDM, GMA News
