26 arrested for drug use, illegal possession of firearms in General Trias, Cavite

Twenty-six people were arrested for illegal drug use and trading and illegal possession of firearms in General Trias, Cavite on Tuesday.

Most were arrested for using or selling illegal drugs, while three were caught in possession of guns and bullets during the six-hour anti-drug police operation, according to a report by Athena Imperial on Unang Balita on Tuesday.

One man sustained a head injury after trying to escape through the roof.

One of the arrested men admitted his home was a drug den.

In this case, drugs are traded for fruits, said the suspect.

Businessman shot dead in Bombon, Camarines Sur

Meanwhile, a businessman was found dead inside his own home in Bombon, Camarines Sur after what seems to be a case of robbery.

According to the police, Nicanor Ipo, Sr. apparently sold a truck before he was fatally shot.

Authorities assume the suspect was known to the victim since there was no sign of forced entry.

Liquor bottles were found on the table where Ipo was shot.

Businesswoman shot dead in Cotabato City

In Cotabato City, meanwhile, a businesswoman and former governor's granddaughter was shot dead in front of her own home on Monday.

According to police, Amalia Gutierrez, a known landowner in the area, was just getting out of her car when she was shot by still unknown assailants.

Gutierrez's bag was also stolen after she was shot.
