Pinoys in provinces brave flood and rain for Undas
Despite the inconvenience brought by rain and flooding in some provinces, many Filipinos in the provinces still flocked to the cemeteries to visit their departed loved ones on All Saints' Day.
According to a report by Bam Alegre on Unang Balita on Thursday, heavy rains did not deter people from visiting a cemetery in Samal, Bataan. It also did not stop vendors of flowers and food to sell their goods outside the cemetery.
Some residents of Mabitac, Laguna also braved the floods in order to visit their departed loved ones. Some tombs were also submerged by floodwater which prompted others to lie down on top of the tombs.
On the other hand, some residents of Santa Maria, Laguna were unable to go to cemeteries after a bridge in the area was submerged due to the continuous heavy rain. They decided to light candles in front of their homes instead.
Visitors of a Catholic cemetery in Batangas City also had difficulty in observing All Saints' Day as some of the graves were submerged by floodwaters. Other tombs have already been abandoned.
Meanwhile, residents of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan sought alternate routes as one of their roads going to a cemetery was closed due to flooding.
It was also a flooded Undas in Cauayan City, Isabela as visitors even had to ride a boat just to cross the road.
Visitors of Koronadal City public cemetery had to deal with the flood and mud that covered the tombs of their departed loved ones.
Zamboanga City, however, was not affected by heavy rains as it experienced hot weather during Undas which even caused a woman to faint. She was immediately brought to the hospital. —Marlly Rome Bondoc/KG, GMA News
