Cop killed, 10 others wounded in Iloilo NPA ambush

A police officer was killed and 10 others were wounded in an attack by suspected members of the New People's Army in Iloilo province on Friday night, a day after President Rodrigo Duterte ordered the cancellation of peace talks with the Reds.

Heavily armed communist guerrillas ambushed policemne from the Philippine National Police's Regional Public Safety Battalion 6 (RPSB6) in Barangay Bolo in Iloilo's Maasin town.

The fatality, Police Officer  1 (PO1) Joefel Odon was declared dead at a hospital. The 10 others who were wounded were brought to the Iloilo City Hospital and Cabatuan Hospital.

Initial police information showed that SAF troopers were returning to their camp when they were ambushed by suspected NPA fighters, who immediately fled after the brief heavy attack.
