Couple shot, torched in Lanao del Sur; police checking if suspects linked to Maute group
A couple were shot dead and their house set on fire in Marantao, Lanao del Sur last Friday.
A 24 Oras report identified the victims as Uztads Khalid and Santalia Ditingki.
All eight of their children escaped and pointed to their relatives Nabel Tomara and Morad Dayaan Maute as the culprits.
Another individual, Manura Maute, was picked up by the police as a possible accomplice.
The police believe that a land dispute may be the reason behind the attack, which happened last Friday.
"Previously, parang awayan ito tungkol sa lote, but then we're still digging deeper," said PNP Lanao del Sur Senior Superintendent John Guyguyon in the report.
The police is looking into whether the suspects are connected to the terrorist Maute group that conducted a months-long attack on Marawi City earlier this year. — ALG/BM, GMA News
