5 inmates caught in shabu session inside Leyte jail
Five inmates were caught holding a shabu session inside the sub-provincial jail in Abuyog, Leyte.
The inmates were identified as Mario Marmita, 38; Noli Rinos, 52; Allan Sia, 33; Elvira Cuevas, 38; and Jonalyn Culaba, 38.
Marmita is facing a murder charge and a suspected drug ring member and the other four are all facing charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency said the inmates were caught in a shabu session during a routine inspection by its Eastern Visayas operatives.
Seized from the inmates were an opened plastic sachet containing 0.5 grams of shabu, two strips of aluminium foils with traces of shabu, two foil tooters and two disposable lighters.
The inmates are now facing additional charges for violation of Section 11 (possession of dangerous drugs), Section 12 (possession of drug paraphernalia) and Section 15 (use of dangerous drugs) of the anti-drugs law.
Officials of the Abuyog Sub-Provincial Jail immediately conducted a jail-wide inspection following the discovery. —report from Ronnie Roa/ALG, GMA News
