Facebook posts show suspect’s remorse, closeness to victims in Cavite slays
Status updates posted by Ruel Cabatingan, the principal suspect in the recent killings of a mother and daughter in General Trias, Cavite, not only indicated his remorse for his supposed role in the slays.
According to Ian Cruz's report on "24 Oras", pictures posted on Facebook by the 36-year-old overseas Filipino worker also showed his closeness to the victims Ruby and Shaniah Gamos.
"Nakahanda akong pagbayaran lahat ng kasalanan ko," read one post.
"Sa mga otoridad wag na po kayong mag pagod. kusa na po akong sumuko," went another before he surrendered to police in Borongan, Samar.
"I'm so sorry mommy and anak ko," Cabatingan said in a post.
Cabatingan and Ruby were reportedly childhood sweethearts but she eventually married Marlon Gamos, a seaman.
Marlon reportedly promised Ruby a church wedding, something that police said didn't sit well with Cabatingan.
"Pinangakuang magpapakasal sila in a church wedding this December, siguro nag-selos ito si suspect," said Senior Superintendent William Segun.
Cabatingan, Ruby and Shaniah reportedly lived for six months in a compound in Imus, Cavite and neighbors thought they were a family. —NB, GMA News
