Former Palawan Gov. Joel Reyes visits Puerto Princesa Capitol
Days after he was released from detention, former Palawan Governor Joel Reyes visited the Palawan Provincial Capitol in Puerto Princesa City, according to a report on Unang Balita on Wednesday.
Reyes paid a courtesy call on Palawan Governor Jose Alvarez.
He also met with Palawan Vice Governor Dennis Socrates and the provincial board members.
Reyes clarified that there was no politics involved in his visit to the provincial capitol. He only wanted to pay his respects to Alvarez.
Alvarez welcomed Reyes and advised him to rest and use his time to help the province of Palawan.
"Kung anuman 'yung pinagbigay sa 'yo ng husgado ay pagbutihin mo at sana gamitin mo na 'yung natitirang yugto ng buhay mo sa mabuting paraan para makatulong sa Palawan at sa mamamayan ng Palawan," Alvarez said.
Reyes was in detention for three years for the case of the murder of environmentalist Dr. Gerry Ortega.
The Court of Appeals recently ruled that Reyes should be freed since there was no probable cause for the Palawan Regional Trial Court to try him for the murder of Ortega.
The family of Ortega asked the public to be vigilant following the release of Reyes. —KG, GMA News
