59-year-old in a critical condition after hit and run incident

A 59-year-old man is in critical condition after a tricycle driver hit him, according to a "24 Oras" report by Jun Veneracion on Thursday.

The family of victim, Rolando Gonzales, identified the suspect as Eric Asahan.

Gonzales reportedly had a heated argument with Asahan's son while they were waiting in line in their neighborhood's water source.

The incident took place Tuesday morning along a street in Barangay Alapan 2A, Imus, Cavite just a short distance from the barangay hall.

As seen on CCTV, Asahan fled the scene and drove past a van driven by a Librado Caldejon, a barangay kagawad the suspect's cousin.

For his part, Caldejon said he was unsure if it was an accident.

Caldejon said he did not recognize his cousin until it was too late and was unable to act right away due to shock.

Meanwhile, the police are conducting an investigation on the incident before they can file a case against Asahan for frustrated murder.

Distressed over their patriarch's critical state, Gonzales' family urged Asahan to surrender.

Sa pamilya mo?" she said.
