Two successive explosions rocked a town in Maguindanao early morning on Friday, a radio report said.

Quoting a military official, Rod Vega on "Dobol B sa News TV" said that the explosions hit a highway in Maguindanao's Datu Odin Sinsuat town shortly before 7 a.m.

Captain Arvin Encinas, spokesman for the 6th Infantry Division (6th ID), was quoted as saying that the first explosion occurred at about 6:35 a.m. and the second blast, some 15 meters away from the first, followed 10 minutes later.

The military suspect that the explosions were from improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

Encinas also said that that the blasts hit an area near the 6th ID's division training school.

He did not comment on the possibility that the soldiers passing the area going to the training school were the target for the blasts.

Authorities are on the hunt for the suspects to determine the motive for the incident. —with a report from Ferdinandh Cabrera/LBG, GMA News
