Headset-wearing bicyclist rides straight into train’s path in Laguna
A 31-year-old man died when he was hit by a train in Barangay Pooc, Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
According to a 24 Oras report by John Consulta on Tuesday, victim Patrick De Dios failed to notice the oncoming train and rode his bicycle straight onto its path. He was wearing a headset or headphones.
"'Yung pagkatalsik niya ho um-impact po 'yung bisikleta dun sa ano ng tilapia, tindahan ng ano... katabi po ng tren," the victim's sibling said.
"'Yung leeg po, 'yung paa, bali po. Tapos fracture niya po sa may ulo," she added.
De Dios, who died on the spot, leaves behind four children.
Barangay officials reminded the public to be extra cautious and vigilant when on the road.
"Iwasan na natin naka-headset. Alam naman po natin na napakalakas ng busina at napakalakas ng ilaw [ng tren], pero hindi pa rin binigyan ng pansin," said barangay chairman Lino Caramay.
Philippine National Railways management vowed to provide assistance to De Dios' grieving family, the report said. — Anna Felicia Bajo/BM, GMA News
