Police arrest NPA rebel suspected of killing Agusan del Sur judge
Authorities on Friday said it had arrested in San Mateo, Rizal on Thursday a suspected rebel who allegedly killed a judge in Agusan del Sur.
Nabbed by virtue of an arrest warrant, Marlen Maojo Maga is said to be behind the killing of Judge Cesar Bordalba of the 10th Judicial Region in Cabadbaran City.
Maga was arrested at the basketball court of Greenland Subdivision, Brgy. Ampid, San Mateo by elements from the Metro Manila police's Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, Philippine National Police Intelligence Group, and Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
Confiscated from the suspect was a .45 PARA 1911, a magazine loaded with 7 live ammunition, and a wallet with several IDs, all contained inside an orange backpack.
A witness positively identified Maga during the arrest.
Authorities said the suspect is a member of the EXECOM, National Youth and Student Bureau (NYSB), National Organizing Division (NOD) of the CPP-NPA.
He was placed under the custody of the Metro Manila CIDG where he underwent inquest proceedings before the prosecutor's office. . — Rie Takumi/MDM, GMA News
