NPA tells military: We abducted six goons in Quezon not civilians

The New People's Army command in the Southern Tagalog region on Wednesday belied the claim of the military on the supposed abduction of six civilians from a town in Quezon province.

A report on Super Radyo dzBB's "Dobol B sa News TV" said the the NPA's Melito Glor Command confirmed the abduction of six members of a private armed group or goons, but not civilians.

On Tuesday, soldiers from the 85th Infantry Battalion reported that the communist rebels ransacked a ranch and abducted six workers, including two off-duty militiamen, in San Francisco town last Monday night.

The military claimed that some 50 to 60 NPA guerrillas raided the Tumbaga Ranch owned by a certain James Murray in Sitio Tumbaga, Barangay Nasalaan at around 6 p.m.

As the rebels escaped, they took with them six ranch workers, including two members of the Citizens Armed Forces Geographical Unit assigned in Barangay Huyon-Huyon.

But a spokesman for the Melito Glor command on Wednesday said that the NPA's Apolonio Mendoza command abducted the goons for terrorizing local farmers and for their land grabbing activities. —LBG, GMA news
