Lola who saved grandchildren among dead in Dimple Star mishap

A grandmother who made sure that her four grandchildren were safe was among those who perished in the bus mishap that killed 19 in Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro on Tuesday.

"Mas gusto niyang ibuwis buhay nita kaysa sa mga pamangkin ko," said Rechelyn Bayle, daughter of Lola Lolita.

Lola Lolita was on board the ill-fated Dimple Star bus with her granchildren when the vehicle fell into a ravine in Sablayan town.

Her grandson Ace, who's still an infant, is already out of danger. Five-year-old Angelica is also safe but appears traumatized by the accident.

Four-year-old Keera, however, needs surgery on her head.

The family is calling on Dimple Star Transport to facilitate the compensation for the victims.

Teacher Teresita Dupugan also died in the accident. She was only two years removed from her retirement.

Dupugan was also taking sewing jobs on the side to help a sick child.

"Panagutan nila ang nangyari lalo sa mga namatay, sana mabigyan ng sapat na tulong," said Bernice Abquilen, Dupugan's daughter. —NB, GMA News
