Police seize 44 Dimple Star buses in Mindoro
Police have impounded 44 units of Dimple Star Transport Occidental and Oriental Mindoro provinces, days after 19 people died in an accident involving one of its buses.
In a 24 Oras report on Saturday, the Dimple Star units were seized on Friday.
Half of the number of buses have been temporarily impounded at the Oriental Mindoro Provincial Police Office and the other half was brought to the headquarters of the Police Regional Office 4-A (Mimaropa).
The seizure was ordered as the Philippine National Police's Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) investigates possible offenses against the owners of Dimple Star Transport.
A total of 19 people were killed and 21 more were injured after a Dimple Star bus fell into a ravine in Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro on Tuesday night.
Initial report said the bus' brakes failed.
The Land Transportation and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has issued a 30-day preventive suspension order on the bus firm's entire fleet.
The order covers 118 Dimple Star buses that ply at least 10 routes. —Margaret Claire Layug/ALG, GMA News
