Barangay councilor candidate, 7 others nabbed in alleged pot session in Bulacan


Authorities arrested a candidate for barangay councilor and seven others while allegedly having a "pot session" in Meycauayan, Bulacan on Wednesday.

Operatives of the Meycauayan City Police Station conducted the anti-drug operation at around 3 a.m. in Barangay Banga after receiving information from a concerned citizen that a "pot session" was ongoing in one of the houses in the area.

The suspects were identified as:

  • Janet Oñate, 41, and running for barangay councilor;
  • Noemie Uy, 48;
  • Jufer Oñate, 36;
  • Oscar Malvar, 64; 
  • Joseph Casambros, 30;
  • Arsenio Bacani, 42;
  • Aurora Roy, 39; and
  • Jonnel Danao, 33

 

Seized from the suspects were three heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets with suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P1,000; one cut-opened, heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet; two disposable lighters; two improvised tooters; and four aluminum foil strips.

Charges for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against the suspects.

They are now under the custody of the Meycauayan City Police Station. —Anna Felicia Bajo/KG, GMA News
