Magnitude-6.0 quake strikes off Catanduanes
A magnitude-6.0 earthquake struck off Pandan, Catanduanes on Saturday afternoon.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) earlier measured the quake at magnitude 5.9.
PHIVOLC said the quake was recorded at 2:19 p.m. It struck 46 kilometers northwest of Pandan at a depth of 21 kilometers.
In an earlier bulletin, the PHIVOLCS said the quake struck 69 kilometers northwest of Pandan at a depth of 46 kilometers.
It was felt strongest at Intensity 4 in Irosin, Sorsogon and Legazpi City and Ligao town in Albay.
It was felt at Intensity 3 in Obando, Bulacan and Intensity 2 in Quezon City and Masbate City.
There are reports that the earthquake was also felt in some parts of Taguig and Manila cities.
Based on Instrumental Intensities, PHIVOLCS said the quake was felt at Intensity 4 in Legazpi City, Iriga City, Jose Panganiban inCamarines Norte and Alabat in Quezon.
Intensity 3 was recorded in Guinayangan, Lopez and Infanta towns in Quezon; Sorsogon City and Marikina City and Intensity 2 in Lucban, Quezon; Quezon City, Masbate, Masbate; Mauban, Quezon; Catbalogan, Samar; Cabanatuan City and Palo, Leyte.
Intensity 1 was felt in Tagaytay City; Lucena City and Dolores town in Quezon; Malabon City; Sal Ildefonso, Bulacan and Guagua in Pampanga.
PHIVOLCS said it is not expecting any damage from the quake, but expects aftershocks. —ALG, GMA News
