Barangay captain shot dead in Antipolo ahead of polls

A barangay captain in San Mateo, Rizal, was shot dead in Antipolo City on Thursday noon by two motorcycle-riding suspects, police said.

A police report from the Rizal Police Provincial Office said the victim, identified as Danilo Laciste, was shot while on board his vehicle along Marcos Highway in Barangay Inarawan at around 12:40 p.m.

Laciste is a barangay captain of Barangay Pintong Bukawe in San Mateo. He was shot several times.

The suspects immediately fled going to the direction of Sitio Cabading in Barangay Inarawan, Antipolo, police said.

The incident occurred four days before the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections.
