Newly-elected barangay councilman in Palawan wounded in gun attack


A newly-elected barangay councilman in Bataraza, Palawan was shot and injured while on his way home on Tuesday morning.

Police identified the victim as Viscay Pillar, who won the last and seventh seat of Barangay Culandanum's council in Bataraza town.

Police said Pillar was walking to his home in the barangay when an unidentified gunman shot him.

Pillar sustained a gunshot wound to his left foot and is now confined at a hospital in Brooke's Point town.

Investigations are ongoing to identify Pillar's shooter. —report from Paul Jaysent Fos/ALG, GMA News
