Barangay Alijis wins MassKara street dance grand prize


Sun.Star: BACOLOD CITY - After finishing second in the MassKara street dancing-barangay category Saturday, Barangay Alijis made a nice comeback in Sunday's open category as it copped the grand champion award, defeating the barangay champion, which is the tribe from Barangay 23. Aside from being this year's MassKara street dance champion, Barangay Alijis was also named Best in Masks and Best in Choreography in the barangay and open categories, respectively. It pocketed a total of P185,000 in cash prizes - P100,000 in the open category, P75,000 in the barangay category, and P10,000 for Best in Masks and Best in Choreography awards. Barangay 23, which topped the barangay category, was only declared first runner-up in the open category Sunday. But it snatched Best in Costume, Best in Choreography, and Best in Concept Awards in the barangay category. In the open category, it only retained the Best in Costume and Best in Concept titles. Barangay 23 also feasted with their P200,000 cash prizes - P100,000 in the barangay category, P75,000 in the open category and P25,000 for five special awards. Finishing second runner-up in the barangay category was Barangay 17 and Barangay 28 in the open category. Each received P50,000 each. Meanwhile, in the school category held last Thursday, Paglaum Elementary School hurdled the championship award in the elementary category and Luisa Medel National High School in the high school category. - Sun.Star
