DSWD: Release of cash grants in Ifugao town to resume after probe on robbery

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Wednesday assured beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) in Tinoc, Ifugao that they would still get their financial assistance even if the fund meant for them had earlier been carted away by still unidentified suspects.

In a statement, the agency said the stolen money worth P2.7 million was supposed to cover the cash grants of some 1,269 Pantawid beneficiaries in the said municipality.

Personnel of the Lagawe Multi-Purpose Development Cooperative (LMDC) allegedly witnessed the robbery-holdup that happened May 21.

The Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP), DSWD's partner in releasing the cash grants, ensured the agency that the payout would be rescheduled once the local government of Tinoc and  Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel finishes investigating the incident and cleared the area where the incident took place.

The DSWD also expressed apologies for any inconvenience the incident might have caused to the beneficiaries. — Anna Felicia Bajo/MDM, GMA News
