Pangasinan town councilor shot dead - report

Sun.Star: ALCALA, Pangasinan - A third-term municipal councilor was shot dead Monday evening a few meters away from his house. Alcala Police Chief Laurence Sison identified the victim as Councilor Juan Ablao, 55 years old of Barangay San Pedro Apartado. Initial investigation showed that Ablao went out of his house at about 10 p.m. to stop somebody who was playing firecrackers at the barangay plaza.Nobody heard of any gunshot at that time. He said the residents could have mistaken it still as firecrackers. The body of Ablao was later found by SK chairman Erickson Baguilod and his companion lying on the ground. Ablao was rushed to San Juan de Bautista Hospital in nearby Bautista town but died along the way. The police said they are conducting continuous investigation on the matter. - Sun.Star
