Plane overshoots Palawan runway
A Skyjet Airlines plane from Manila overshot the runway at the Francisco B. Reyes airport in Coron, Palawan on Friday afternoon.
According to a report on GMA News TV's State of the Nation with Jessica Soho, none of the 80 passengers and six crew members on board flight M8717 were hurt.
However, a pilot suffered minor injuries and was brought to the hospital.
The air traffic controller said the runway was slippery due to the continuous rain.
Some flights at the airport were affected due to the incident.
Mimaropa police identified the aircraft as Aircraft SKYJET RP-C5255, piloted and co-piloted by captains Owen Rosales and Vicente Dela Cruz.
A police report said the aircraft landed on Runway 0-8 at around 4:40 p.m. and overshot at Runway 2-6 a few minutes later.
The police said the passengers were assisted in disembarking from the plane by personnel from the PNP, CAAP, Skyjet, the 4th Marine Battalion Landing Team of the Philippine Marines and firefighters.
The report added that the passengers were unharmed and guided to the arrival area of Busuanga Airport for medical assessment and the distribution of their luggage and personal belongings before being brought to their respective hotels. — Margaret Claire Layug/BAP, GMA News
