Motor banca sinks off Surigao Norte; all passengers rescued

A passenger banca sank after a floating log punctured its hull, causing it to take in water and sink off Surigao del Norte on Saturday.

"Balitanghali Weekend" reported that the motor banca, with 38 passengers and six crew members on board, was cruising in rough seas when a floating log hit it, tearing trough its hull.

The passengers kept clinging to the sinking banca until rescuers from the Philippine Coast Guard came for the rescue.

No one was reported hurt in the incident and all passengers and crew members of the boat were accounted for and safe. —LBG, GMA News
