Aklan governor, wife face raps for non-declaration of certain assets in SALN
Aklan Governor Florencio Miraflores and his wife, former Ibajay, Aklan Mayor Ma. Lourdes Miraflores, were indicted at the Sandiganbayan over their alleged non-declaration of investments and properties in their Statements of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN).
The Office of the Ombudsman filed four counts of violation of Section 8 of the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees against Florencio and three counts of the same offense against Ma. Lourdes.
Florencio allegedly failed to declare in his SALN for the year 2006 his family's cash investments worth P6.16 million in Rural Bank of Ibajay Inc., and their vehicles including an Isuzu Elf truck, a Nissan Safari Wagon, a Mazda pick-up, and a Kawasaki motorcycle.
The same investments and properties were also allegedly not disclosed in the 2007 SALNs of Florencio and Ma. Lourdes.
The couple also supposedly "willfully, unlawfully and criminally" failed to disclose the motor vehicles in their respective SALNs for 2008 and 2009.
A total bail bond of P120,000 and P90,000 has been recommended in the cases of Florencio and Ma. Lourdes, respectively. —KG, GMA News
