Farmer shot dead in Bayambang, Pangasinan – report
A farmer in Pangasinan province was gunned down by an unidentified man Saturday night, radio dzRH reported on Sunday. The report said police were trying to identify the gunman who killed farmer Ronaldo Gaviola, 54, along a village road in Bayambang town at 8 p.m. Saturday. But authorities quickly ruled out that the incident was related to Mondayâs village and youth council elections. Based on initial reports, Gaviola was walking with one Jose Gabriel when several shots were heard. Gabriel ducked for cover then ran away from the site as fast as he could. When the firing ended, Gabriel returned to the site and saw the victim lying in a pool of blood. Gabriel rushed Gaviola to a nearby hospital but the latter died before reaching the hospital. Gaviola reportedly succumbed to four gunshot wounds to the back. Bayambang is a first-class town with a population of 96,609 people in 17,897 households. - GMANews.TV
