Two hurt in grenade blast at house of mayor in Sultan Kudarat

Two people were hurt after a grenade was thrown at the house of the mayor of Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat on Saturday morning.

Injured were Councilor Carlos Abalos and Richard Abalos who were at the house of Lambayong Mayor Ramon Abalos when the incident happened past 6 a.m., according to a report on News TV Live.

Carlos is the brother of the mayor, while Richard is his nephew. Richard also works at the municipal government.

Police investigation showed that the mayor just entered the house before the grenade blast happened.

The mayor reportedly had breakfast outside his house together with his bodyguards, police, and relatives as was his usual habit when the incident occurred.

The grenade was thrown by an unidentified man on board a motorcycle.

Another grenade was thrown at a police station in the area but it did not explode. 

Authorities are investigating the incident. —KG, GMA News
