Cargo vessel runs aground in Palawan

A cargo vessel ran aground off the coast in Dumaran, Palawan due to strong winds and big waves.

Coming from Puerto Princesa, the vessel was supposed to return to Lucena City, but it had to anchor off.

Authorities have reminded seafarers to avoid setting sail in bad weather.

On Monday, a tourist boat sank in the waters off Helicopter Island in El Nido, Palawan. 

The military helped rescue 14 people who boarded the tourist boat M/B Cleopatra from El Nido for a private island tour.

Aboard were 10 Filipino guests, a tour guide, and three crewmen, including the vessel's captain Hayrone Sulayman.

The guests and crewmen were rescued and were all back safe in El Nido by 1 p.m. —Jamil Santos/KG, GMA News
