RESIDENTS WARNED

Two more gates of San Roque Dam opened; total number of gates open now four

Authorities opened two more gates of San Roque Dam on Agno River in Pangasinan on Sunday morning, bringing to four the total number of gates opened.

At 9 a.m., Gates 1, 2, 5, and 6 were open at 0.5 meters to release water to prevent overspill.

The current water level at the dam was 281.19 meters above sea level (masl), which is over the 280 masl normal high water level.

The PDRRMO said heavy rains from the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) have dumped rainwater on the Agno River, Pantal-Sinocalan River and its tributaries, and Cayanga River and its tributaries.

Residents living near waterways were advised to be alert, take the necessary precautions, and evacuate to higher ground or to evacuation centers as needed. —KG, GMA News
