Parts of Dagupan, Calasiao in Pangasinan flooded

Some parts of Dagupan and Calasiao were flooded as of Sunday, due to high tide as rains from the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) poured.

Ron Castillo, research and planning officer of the Pangasinan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, told Super Radyo dzBB in an interview that the water level at Malued in Dagupan has already reached four feet deep.

Meanwhile, flood in other barangays such as Bacayao Norte, Lucao, Barangays 1, 2, and 3, and Poblacion have reached one to four feet deep.

Richard Orendain, hydrologist at PAGASA Hydrometeorological Division, told Super Radyo dzBB that the flood in Dagupan City is not related to the release of water from San Roque Dam.

Instead, the flood came from the tributaries in Baguio and the Agno-Sinocalan River, he said.

In Calasiao, 10 families and 42 individuals have sought shelter at the Calasiao Sports Complex, Orendain said.

Castillo said residents were advised to take the necessary precautions, store food, and evacuate when necessary.

Four gates of San Roque Dam were opened on Sunday.

The Pangasinan PDRRMO said it is ready with relief goods and is prepared to assist residents who may be affected by flood that may be caused by the dam release.

Residents may call the Pangasinan PDRRMO at their hotlines 09189345754, 09171505754, and 0755423347 for assistance.

Meanwhile, the Pangasinan PDRRMO said Garrita Bridge connecting Alaminos City and the municipality of Bani is not passable to all types of vehicles.
