64-year-old man who survived Itogon landslide: Sabi ko, 'Lord, buhayin Mo ako'

A 64-year-old man who was thrown around in a massive heap of mud and rocks during the deadly landslide in Barangay Ucab, Itogon, Benguet lived to tell the tale.

The disaster that occurred during the onslaught of Typhoon Ompong this past weekend claimed the lives of at least 23 people, with at least 39 others remain missing.

According to Saleema Refran's report on "24 Oras" on Thursday, 64-year-old Gregorio Cuti was all alone when he was battered by a cascade of dirt, mud and rocks.

The old man broke his hip, an arm, and a leg.

Still coughing up dirt and rocks in his system on Thursday, he shared that he desperately prayed to God as he clung to life. His agony was prolonged when it took a day to get him to a hospital due to landslide-hit roadways in the area.

"Madaming mga bato saka 'yung tubig. Akala ko hindi ako ano, maipunta sa malayo, pero paglabas ng ulo ko, nakita ko, malayo na nipuntahan sa akin," Cuti said.

"Sabi ko 'Lord, Lord, buhayin mo ako," he added. —Margaret Claire Layug/JST, GMA News
