Death toll in Cebu landslide reaches 21

Twenty-one bodies have been retrieved from the site of the landslide that buried houses in Naga City, Cebu on Thursday morning.

According to Ian Cruz's report on State of the Nation with Jessica Soho, the search and rescue operations continued even in the evening after one of the survivors called her mother from under the rubble and said that she was with 12 others who are still alive but trapped.

Five more bodies were recovered during the nighttime operations.

It was around 10 p.m. that the bodies of a man and a woman were retrieved from the landslide site. 

Nine have been rescued throughout the day even as dozens remained missing.

Emergency responders late Thursday evening retrieved the body of a female victim who is yet to be identified, the Central Visayas police regional office reported.

In an update issued about 11 p.m., Central Visayas Regional Police spokesman Superintendent Reyman Tolentin reported that the death toll has reached 21, which include four unidentified individuals and two young girls with last name Campanilla.

There were 20 houses in sitio Sindulan in Barangay Tina-an that were damaged and at least four in Barangay Naalad.

The fatalities are:

• Olivia Meneses Moral, female, 63 years old
• Abel Lobiano, female, 40 years old
• Romeo Jabonilia, male, 40 years old
• Francisco Yopac(Possible Identity) 60 years old
• Michael Versales, male, years old
• Mark Laurence Campanilla, male, years old
• Vianca Versales, female 19 years old
• Raul Gepuit, male, 47 years old
• Laura Capoy, female,  52 years old
• Nina Siton
• Crystal Jean Siton
• Lauro Campanilla
• Juanito Siton, male, 42 years old
• Emiliana  Siton  female, 85 years old
• Two unidentified male victims, one unidentified female victim, and two girls who share the last name Campanilla, one unidentified victim

The names of the victims rescued who were injured in the incident are:

• Rose Ann Lobiano, female, 40 years old
• Christopher Semillar, male, 44 years old
• Nestor Capoy, male, 52 years old
• Junalyn Siton, female, 16 years old
• Jocelyn Siton, female, 38 years old
• Basilla Omambac, female, 58 years old
• Sidney Ravanes, female, 35 years old
• Baby Jane Ravanes, 8 years old
• Nestor Dejillas
