Classes in Iloilo City suspended after earthquake


The Iloilo City government on Monday suspended classes in all levels in both private and public schools following a magnitude 4.8 earthquake.

"To ensure safety of everyone in Iloilo City because of the earthquake, classes are suspended in all levels both public and private schools,"  Iloilo City Mayor Jose Espinosa announced on Facebook.

 

Espinosa said work at the city hall was likewise suspended.

For private companies, Espinosa said he is leaving it upon the discretion of the management and national government agencies to declare suspension of work.

According to PHIVOLCS, a magnitude-4.8 earthquake was recorded in Guimbal, Iloilo, at 10:45 a.m., followed by a series of earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from 2.0 to 2.3 in Leon. —KBK, GMA News
