Hospital, school buildings in Iloilo sustain cracks following magnitude 4.8 quake
A hospital and some school buildings in Iloilo were found to have cracks after a magnitude 4.8 earthquake hit the province on Monday.
Some schools in Guimbal, Iloilo were checked by the Municipal Engineer’s Office and were found to have cracks, according to a report on Dobol B sa News TV on Tuesday by Sevein Hope Gegantoca of Super Radyo Iloilo.
The damaged schools are Igcocolo Elementary School, Cabasi- Sta. Rosa Elementary School, Nanga Elemetary School, Guimbal Central Elementary School and the two-story building of Guimbal National High School.
Classes on Tuesday were suspended in these schools.
Aside from these schools, the delivery and operating room of the Guimbal District Hospital also sustained cracks due to the earthquake, a local official said.
An emergency meeting was held for a rapid assessment of the damage caused by the earthquake.
On Monday, classes in all levels in private and public schools in Iloilo City were canceled after the earthquake. —Joviland Rita/KG, GMA News
