Fire destroys APEC Villas clubhouse in Subic

Fire engulfed the clubhouse of the former APEC Villas inside the Subic Bay Freeport Zone on Monday morning.

According to a report on GMA News TV's "Balita Pilipinas Ngayon," the blaze destroyed the entire clubhouse, which was part of a complex that hosted economic leaders during the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit in 1996.

The investigation was still ongoing as of the report, but witnesses said the fire started from a stock room at around 7 a.m.

Meanwhile, fire also destroyed two houses in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte after one of the families reportedly left something cooking on their stove before going to sleep.

As the investigation continues, a tenant said the fire started from one house's kitchen and spread to the next home.
