Fisherman finds giant clamshell in Eastern Samar

A giant clamshell was discovered by a fisherman on the shores of Eastern Samar.

According to a report on GMA News TV "Balita Pilipinas Ngayon" on Tuesday, the clamshell more known locally as "tilang" or "buka" was 90-centimeter-long and 66-centimeter-wide.

Its weight was estimated at over 100 kilos.

The fisherman who found the giant clam shell believes that this is even bigger than the huge clamshell displayed in a museum in Puerto Princesa, Palawan.

He said he wants to have it checked because it may possibly be the largest clamshell in the Philippines. —Dona Magsino/ LDF, GMA News
