Truck driver in Quezon dies after drinking lambanog
A male truck driver died in Candelaria, Quezon after drinking lambanog (coconut wine).
According to a report by Chino Gaston over “24 Oras,” Nicasio Agarin, the 60-year-old truck driver, drank lambanog carrying the brand "Bossing Tumador."
Several deaths purportedly due to lambanog drinking were also earlier recorded in Quezon City and Laguna.
Virginia Agarin, wife of the victim, said that her husband is in the pink of health prior to drinking lambanog. She said her husband had lambanog to help him sleep.
“Wala naman siyang sakit at nag inom lang ng lambanog na mag-isa para makatulog noong gabi. Sumakit yung tiyan tapos nanlabo na ang mata at sabi papuntang ospital, para siyang sinasakal,” she said.
“Gusto ko lang talaga malaman ano talaga nangyari sa kanya,” she added.
Nicasio's remains will undergo autopsy under the supervision of the National Bureau of Investigation-Calabarzon.
Dr. Antonio Vertido, medical specialist 3 of NBI-Calabarzon, said tissue samples will be taken from the victim to find out the cause of his sudden death.
The deaths also prompted the NBI-Calabarzon to visit lambanog stores in Candelaria, Quezon.
