Novena for Feast of Sto. Niño in Cebu starts
The novena for the 454th feast of the "Sinulog," the famous Cebuano event held in honor of the Sto. Niño (Holy Infant Jesus) every January, started on Thursday.
According to the list of activities for the festivity, the day started with the procession of the pilgrim image of Sto. Niño from Guadalupe Parish to Fuente Osmeña Boulevard.
A penitential foot procession also took place followed by hourly masses.
The Feast of the Sto. Niño is celebrated in the predominantly Catholic Philippines in remembrance of the virtues of Jesus Christ as a child.
Aside from the traditional procession and Catholic masses, the Sinulog festival also features street parties, concerts, singing contests as well as beauty pageants. —Anna Felicia Bajo/KBK, GMA News
