Japanese national killed in Cebu shooting

A Japanese national died Tuesday morning after he was ambushed while on his way to the Mactan International Airport in Cebu province, radio dzBB reported. The report identified the victim as Hiroshi Kosaka, 49. It said Kosaka was on board an L-300 van and on his way to the Mactan International Airport to catch a flight to Narita, Japan when two motorcycle-riding men fired shots on him at the corner of Plaridel and Ouano Sts. in Mandaue around 6:20 a.m. A security guard at a nearby establishment said the driver brought Kosaka to a nearby hospital. Two empty shells of a caliber .45 pistol have been at the crime scene. Senior Superintendent Rodel Calungsod, Mandaue City police chief, confirmed receiving reports of the ambush, adding police investigators have been dispatched to look into the report. "Nakuha namin ang report na Japanese national ang na-ambush (We received a report that a Japanese national was ambushed)," Calungsod told dzBB radio. - GMANews.TV
