One killed, 12 hurt as SUV rams into children’s arcade at Carmona mall

One person was killed while 12 others, including five minors, were hurt, after an SUV rammed into a children's amusement center at a mall in Carmona, Cavite on Wednesday.

According to Jamie Santos' report on "State of the Nation with Jessica Soho", the driver reportedly fell asleep inside his parked vehicle while his wife was out buying medicine.

The police, however, said they were coordinating with the mall's management in line with the ongoing investigation.

"Nakapagrequest na kami ng CCTV footage ng mall para at least malinawan din natin kung totoo talaga na suddenly nag-accelerate," Police Major Rommel Carcellar, chief of Carmona PNP, said.

Carcellar also quoted the doctor who said the lone fatality died of a head injury.

The twelve people injured, have been rushed to the Carmona hospital.

The driver identified as Rosendo Mamucod, who was also confined to the hospital, reportedly suffered from a stroke a few months back.

Police are said they were preparing cases to be filed against the driver. —Margaret Claire Layug/NB, GMA News
