2 killed in Cebu cafe shooting were graduating student, PHL rep to int’l event
One of the victims in the shooting incident in a coffee shop in Cebu last week was supposed to graduate in June, while another was set to represent the Philippines in an upcoming international competition in the US.
John Michael Hermoso, managing partner of the coffee shop, was set to represent the Philippines in the World Coffee Championship in America, according to a report on GMA News' "Balitanghali" on Sunday.
Kis Tryvl Ramos, the cashier and a working student, was scheduled to graduate from the University of the Philippines this June.
They were killed on Wednesday night by a gunman wearing a motorcycle helmet who walked to the door of the shop and shot the occupants inside before running off.
Two other employees, Sherwin Rivera and Gerome Camada, were injured during the incident and are now recuperating.
Police officials said they are now investigating the matter, and among the possible motives are a love triangle, or business deals gone sour.
Bong Abela, another managing partner of the coffee shop, said the establishment will cooperate with officials in their ongoing investigation.
"The police are actually doing their best to look at all angles, at all possible angles. We're actually looking into cooperating with the police also to look at our CCTV," he said.
"We call for justice and prayers for the victims," he added. — Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas/BM, GMA News
