More than 30 women in Boracay rescued from alleged human trafficking
Authorities rescued on Saturday from a KTV bar in Boracay more than 30 women who were allegedly victims of human trafficking, according to a report by Dano Tingcungco on GMA News' Unang Balita on Tuesday.
Malay, Aklan Police are now closely monitoring the island especially 20 critical points including Balinghai, Puka Beach, Cagban Port and some big hotels in Stations 1, 2, and 3.
Malay Police chief Captain Jose Mark Anthony Gesulga said that due to the influx of tourists on the island during Holy Week, criminals may take advantage of the increased possible market.
“Continuous monitoring pa po tayo. So mayroon po tayong mga information na may mga kuwan, kasi based din sa tourist influx po, tumataas 'yung market nila rito sa isla, mga dumadayo,” Gesulga said.
Police have also seized shabu and cocaine from an individual on the island recently. —Joviland Rita/KG, GMA News
